New goals mean new challenges. Though for many outdoor enthusiasts, being in the mountains means more than just going higher, faster and further. Instead, they value the positive emotions and experiences en route. Picking your way through rugged terrain above the treeline, scrambling up rocky gulleys, making tracks through snow and ice – all form part of the alpine experience. The summit might be important, but it’s often not the only high point.
The same is true of the new MAKRA family in the Hanwag Rock line. It has more than one, in fact it has three high points. They cover a wide spectrum from crampon-compatible mountain boot to sporty approach shoe – everything an aspiring alpinist could wish for.
As a mountain boot for demanding routes with glacier crossings, the MAKRA COMBI GTX® is surprisingly lightweight. It is different to the MAKRA LOW GTX® which has a low-cut upper with greater flexibility for approaches, scrambling and basic rock climbing. Instead the MAKRA COMBI GTX® has a heel welt for semi-automatic crampons and a nylon insole for greater stability. Both models feature an aggressive, high-grip Vibram® Pepe sole which was designed by Hanwag to deliver precision when climbing and a secure grip on rock. And for everyday urban adventures or short walks, there’s now a new sporty low-cut, leisure version – the MAKRA URBAN.
